Military > popular all-time > This is a Frommer Model 1937 manufactured by Femaru es Szerszamgepgyar NV.Caliber:7.65mm Frommer,Magizine:7,Action:Blowback/Single,Total Length:182mm/7.17 inches,Barrel Length:110mm/4.33 inches,Weight Unloaded:770g/27.2oz.This pistol was a development of an earlier model from 1929.It was a blowback-operated pistol with a Browning operation whereby the barrel was retained in the frame.The Model 1937 had an external hammer and there was an extended finger rest at the base of the hand grip.There was a grip safety at the back of the hand grip and the model had a manual safety,as requested by the German Luftwaffe.The marking on the slide indicates the model was part of a contract between the Hungarians and the German Government.My Grandfather took this pistol off of a Nazi soldier after he took his life.

Military > popular all-time > Three pilots of the 409th Bombardment Squadron, 93rd Bombardment Group:  (Left to right) Flight Officer Charles S. "Five By Five" Young, from Dayton, TX; Captain Jacob B. "Jake" Epting, from Tupelo, MS; and First Lieutenant Joseph Avendano, Jr, from Pomona, CA.  Both Young and Avendano had prior flying service with the Royal Canadian Air Force before the U.S. entered the war, and both were later killed in non-combat related flight accidents before the end of the war.  All three flew in the Ploesti raid over Romania on Aug 1st, 1943, Epting (as co-pilot) and Young (as extra co-pilot/gunner) in "Tupelo Lass," and Avendano (as pilot) in "Dogpatch Raider."  Epting was the usual pilot of "Tupelo Lass," which he named, but on the Ploesti raid his squadron commander, Major K.O. "Kayo" Dessert, assigned himself to the left seat in the "Lass."
