Military > popular all-time > Evening guard mount. Each squadron was responsible for its own night-time security. I pulled guard duty a few times. I remember one night as two of us were laying in the hole a Marine chopper put the light on us. All I could think of was "I sure hope they don't decide we're a couple of VC laying down here." One night we had a captain for OD. He didn't respond to my challenge until I let the bolt go home on a live round. Man, did he become respectful of the sentry then.
