Military keyword > rolling > Boys will be boys. The field exercise was over. All the signal gear was packed up except for a couple of 55 gallon barrels of gasoline. They weighed hundreds of pounds each and nobody was interested in busting a gut loading them up into the truck. Get a bunch of young army guys together with nobody really in charge and soon gasoline is pouring down the mountain side. The next stupid thing that must be done is toss a match. Yep, it was an incredible river of fire.

That's not the end of the fun. Go fetch an ax and split the side of the barrel open just wide enough to fill it with sand bags. Then roll it to the edge of the mountain top and let'er go. We never did see it come to a stop as it ripped down the mountain side. It was a great way to let off steam and break up the boredom. The only regret now at $4.00+ a gallon, I wish we hadn't wasted it!!
