SmugMug > all-time keyword > siesta > Siesta Lake Time of day: Mid-day September 25, 2009 This shot is a result of another pit-stop made in Yosemite just off of the Tioga Road as I crossed over to the east side of the Sierras en route to Bishop. I have never been impressed enough to set up my camera here but this day proved different. I needed the reach of the 1.6 crop factor so the 40d got the call. The bright midday sunlight seemed to give a new life to the lake as it brought a radiance of sorts to the plants in the water. Actually, they appeared to sparkle as I looked through the viewfinder and I recall being somewhat taken with the view; I wondered if the camera would pick up this dimension of the scene. I would have likely missed this photo-op if there were clouds diffusing the sunlight; the scene would have likely been the usual uninspiring blah view. I’m starting to see beauty on these cloudless days that I would not have looked for in the past. This is good. A polarizer was used in this shot.
