Northern Arabian Gulf. . . .A first strike tomahawk missile is released from the forward vertical launch system (VLS) aboard the U.S. NavyÕs Ticonderoga Class cruiser USS Shiloh (CG 67), on the morning of September 3, 1996.  
	Following Saddam HusseinÕs offensive action into Kurdish territory within the UN sponsored Òno-fly zoneÓ, U.S. Naval forces launched 14 Tomahawk Cruise missiles on targets in southern Iraq.  President Clinton authorized repeated action less than 24 hours later, after DOD officials determined that additional missiles were needed to ensure that targets were completely neutralized. The Mediterranean Sea (Mar. 23, 2003) -- A Tomahawk Land Attack Missile (TLAM) launches from the guided missile cruiser USS Cape St. George (CG 71).  The Cape St. George is deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, the multi-national coalition effort to liberate the Iraqi people, eliminate IraqÕs weapons of mass destruction, and end the regime of Saddam Hussein.
