Involved in the Battle Of The Bulge - WWII. Obit : Daniel Shippy January 14, 1925 - June 17, 2006 Daniel Lee (Skip) Shippy, 81, of Raytown, MO, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2006 at Research Medical Center. Daniel was born January 14, 1925 in Kingsville, MO to Dan and Nora (Plattner) Shippy and had lived in this area most of his life. He retired in 1987 from KPL Gas after 40 years of service. He received special recognition from Kansas City, MO Mayor Berkley and the KCMO Fire Department for outstanding service to them while a KPL employee. He was an Army veteran of W.W. II, serving from April of 1943 to May of 1946. He served in the Rhineland and Ardennes battles in the European Theater with Battery C 549th Anti Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Division. He received the EAME Ribbon with two Bronze Stars and the American Theater Ribbon. He received his Honorable Discharge after being injured in the War. Daniel was a member of the Raytown Masonic Lodge #391 AF&AM, the Low 12 and the Scottish Rite Bodies. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 58 Years, Pauline E. Shippy in 2005, a brother Kenneth Shippy, four sister, Wanda Ditton, Edith Martin, Bessie Shippy and Ethal Smead. Survivors include two daughters, Brenda K. Shippy of the home, Linda D. Driscoll and husband Barry of Overland Park, KS, a son Daniel R. Shippy of Liberty, MO, two sisters, Wilma Ballard and Lola Bedsaul, a sister-in-law, Kate Shippy, her grandchildren, Eric John Driscoll and wife Kathy, Michael Lee Driscoll and wife Diana, Daniel Robert Shippy, Gregory N. Shippy, Stacy Kelly, a great grandson and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Skip never had a bad word to say about anyone and would do anything for anybody.
